Terms of Service

1. Acceptance

By installing the Voxtyper browser extension, using the Voxtyper website at voxtyper.app, or creating a Voxtyper account, you agree to these Terms of Service ("Terms") and to our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, do not install or use the Service.

These Terms form a legally binding agreement between you and Voxtyper ("Voxtyper", "we", "us", or "our"). If you are using the Service on behalf of an organization, you represent that you are authorized to bind that organization to these Terms.

2. Description of the Service

Voxtyper is a Chrome browser extension and supporting backend that captures audio from your microphone in response to a user-triggered keyboard shortcut, transcribes that audio into text using a speech-to-text provider, and inserts the resulting text into the text field you have focused. The transcription is augmented with punctuation and capitalization but the word content is not rewritten or edited.

3. Account terms

You may use Voxtyper without creating an account for the anonymous tier described in Section 5. To unlock additional usage you may create an account by signing in with an email address (we'll send a one-time magic link) or with a Google account.

You are responsible for keeping your email account, your Google account, and any device on which you remain signed in reasonably secure. We have no way to verify identity beyond control of the email address used to sign in, so anyone with access to that email may sign in as you. If you believe your account has been compromised, contact us at support@voxtyper.app.

You agree to provide accurate information when signing up and to update it if it changes. We may suspend or terminate accounts that we believe were created with false information.

4. Acceptable use

You agree NOT to use Voxtyper to:

• violate any applicable law or regulation;
• infringe the intellectual property or privacy rights of any third party;
• harass, threaten, or defame any person;
• generate text intended to commit fraud, defamation, or any unlawful act;
• attempt to circumvent quota limits, rate limits, or any technical access control we have put in place;
• resell, repackage, or expose the Service as a programmatic API to others without our written permission;
• submit audio that is not yours to submit, including audio of third parties recorded without their consent where consent is legally required;
• probe, scan, or test the vulnerability of the Service, or breach or otherwise circumvent any security or authentication measure.

We reserve the right to suspend or terminate access for any user we believe in good faith to be violating these rules, with or without prior notice.

5. Pricing and subscriptions

5.1 Free tier

Anyone who installs Voxtyper receives a free quota of 20 minutes of dictation per 30-day cycle without signing in. Signing in adds an additional 40 minutes per 30-day cycle, for a combined total of 60 minutes per month while signed in. The 30-day cycle for the anonymous portion resets from the date the extension was installed; the cycle for the signed-in portion resets from the date the account was created.

5.2 Unlimited plan

The Unlimited plan removes the monthly cap and is priced at $9.00 USD per month, billed in advance through Stripe. The Unlimited plan applies a fair-use threshold of 200 hours of dictation per calendar month, which exists to prevent commercial reselling and is not expected to affect any individual user.

5.3 Renewal and cancellation

Unless you cancel, your Unlimited subscription will automatically renew at the end of each billing period at the then-current price. You may cancel at any time through the "Manage subscription" link on the Voxtyper settings page, which opens Stripe's customer portal. Cancellation takes effect at the end of your current billing period; you retain access to the Unlimited plan until that date and are not charged again afterward.

5.4 Refunds

We do not offer refunds for partial billing periods. If you cancel mid-cycle, you retain Unlimited access until the end of the cycle and then revert to the free tier. If you believe you were charged in error, contact support@voxtyper.app and we will investigate.

5.5 Price changes

We may change the Unlimited plan price at any time. We will notify existing subscribers by email at least 30 days before any price change takes effect, and the new price will apply only at your next renewal after that notice. You may cancel at any time before the new price takes effect.

6. Your content

You retain all rights to the audio you submit and to the text returned to your browser. We do not claim any ownership over your content. Because we do not store your audio or the resulting transcripts (see our Privacy Policy for details), we cannot recover or republish them if you lose access.

7. Third-party services

The Service depends on third-party providers including but not limited to OpenRouter, OpenAI, Cloudflare, Stripe, Resend, and Google. Each of these providers operates under its own terms of service and privacy policy. Outages, errors, or changes to those services may affect Voxtyper's availability or behavior. We are not responsible for the actions or omissions of third-party providers but will use reasonable efforts to choose reputable ones and to rotate to alternatives when one fails.

8. Service availability

We aim to make Voxtyper available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, but do not guarantee uninterrupted availability. We may temporarily suspend the Service for maintenance, upgrades, security incidents, or events outside our reasonable control. The free tier is provided as-is and may be modified or discontinued at any time. For the Unlimited plan, prolonged unavailability that materially impairs your use entitles you to contact us for a pro-rata credit at our discretion.

9. Intellectual property

The Voxtyper name, logo, website, extension, and backend are owned by Voxtyper and are protected by copyright, trademark, and other intellectual property laws. We grant you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to use the Service in accordance with these Terms. This license does not include the right to copy, modify, distribute, reverse engineer, or create derivative works of any portion of the Service, except where permitted by applicable law.

10. Disclaimer of warranties

The Service is provided "as is" and "as available" without warranties of any kind, whether express, implied, statutory, or otherwise. To the maximum extent permitted by law, we disclaim all warranties including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, non-infringement, and accuracy of any transcription. Speech-to-text systems make mistakes; you are responsible for reviewing the text before relying on it for any consequential purpose.

11. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, in no event shall Voxtyper, its operators, or its suppliers be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, including loss of profits, data, use, or goodwill, arising out of or relating to your use of or inability to use the Service. Our aggregate liability to you for any claim arising out of or relating to these Terms or the Service shall not exceed the greater of (a) the amount you have paid us in the twelve months preceding the event giving rise to the claim, or (b) twenty United States dollars (USD $20.00).

Some jurisdictions do not allow the exclusion or limitation of certain damages, so the limitations above may not apply to you in full.

12. Indemnification

You agree to indemnify and hold harmless Voxtyper, its operators, and its suppliers from any claim, liability, loss, or expense (including reasonable attorneys' fees) arising out of your breach of these Terms, your misuse of the Service, or your violation of any law or third-party right.

13. Termination

You may stop using Voxtyper at any time by uninstalling the extension and, if signed in, by signing out and deleting your account (see the Privacy Policy for the deletion process). We may suspend or terminate your access if you violate these Terms, if continued provision of the Service to you would expose us to legal liability, or if we discontinue the Service. On termination, sections of these Terms that by their nature should survive (including Intellectual Property, Disclaimer of Warranties, Limitation of Liability, and Indemnification) will continue to apply.

14. Changes to these terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. We will post the updated Terms on this page and update the "Last updated" date. If the changes are material, we will notify signed-in users by email. Continued use of the Service after the effective date of changes constitutes your acceptance of the new Terms. If you do not agree to the updated Terms, you must stop using the Service.

15. Governing law and disputes

These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Delaware, United States, without regard to its conflict-of-law provisions. Any dispute arising out of or relating to these Terms or the Service shall be resolved in the state or federal courts located in Delaware, and you and Voxtyper consent to the personal jurisdiction of those courts.

16. Miscellaneous

If any provision of these Terms is held to be invalid or unenforceable, the remaining provisions will remain in full force and effect. Our failure to enforce any right or provision of these Terms will not constitute a waiver of that right or provision. You may not assign these Terms or any rights under them without our prior written consent; we may assign these Terms freely. These Terms, together with the Privacy Policy, constitute the entire agreement between you and us regarding the Service.
